This week the House System is collecting mooncakes donated by Senior School students. This is being run as a House Service competition, with the House that donates the most mooncakes winning the points. All the mooncakes will then be given to Home Sweet Home and they will distribute them out on the streets around the Train Station, the local Retirement Home and to the HSH residents themselves.

I hope you enjoyed the hustings and took the opportunity to vote for your favourite candidates to be your Vice-captains and House captains for this year.

Now you're back in your tutor rooms - here's an activity which will help you understand the origins of the Mooncake Festival as well as compete against the students from the other Houses in your tutor group.

So first up get into a group with the other students from your House.

Did you know that the Mooncake Festival has its origins in the Legend of E Chang?

You have 20 minutes to:
  • read through the legend by following the link above.
  • devise a short narrated sketch of the legend which uses one person to narrate and the rest of your group as actors who play the characters from the story.

After your 20 minute preparation time you will present your version of the legend to the rest of the class, and your form tutor will score you as to how well you communicated the legend to them.

Let the competition commence!
